Dolls come to life, oh yeah.
As soon, soon as you’re gone. I can remember
a party we went to. I was a Violet, and you –
You were a Rose without any thorns.
Just like your mother.
Don’t lose the way; don’t lose the way to your home.
I’ll be awake; I’ll be awake when you call.
Dolls come to life, you know.
As soon as you close the door - the party continues,
and they’re laughing at you.
And I would be the first to know; you wore my clothes as if they were your own.
You still have on my shoes.
And how many times should I believe you?
How many times should I believe you?
Don’t lose the way; don’t lose the way to your home.
I’ll be awake; I’ll be awake when you call.
The dogs are after you. They smell you through the walls.
And when the net is dropped on you, you won’t even know.
Dolls come to life, oh yeah.
As soon, soon as you’re gone.
I can remember a time when you
wondered.

Marionette
03:43
|
|||
Strings on your fingers tie me to you.
A lone puppeteer painted me tears.
A ribbon of red tied on my head.
Depends on the weather, what I do for you.
Marionette, dancing slow for you - I’m awake, but I’m tired.
What have you brought for your marionette?
A twist of your wrist, and I come spinning to you.
A bird at the window is staring at you.
Nobody knows you, not even your mother, so let me be your pet.
I’ll be your marionette, dancing slow for you – I’m awake, but I’m tired.
What have you done to your marionette?
Strings on your fingers tie me to you.
A lone puppeteer painted me tears.
A ribbon of red tied on my head.
Depends on the weather, what I do for you.
Marionette, dancing ‘round the moon - I’m awake, but I’m tired.
What have you done to your marionette?

No More Dollies
03:37
|
|||
No more dollies for you at Christmas.
No more brides in the back of your car.
And all the angels have fallen down to the shore, so you mend their broken wing.
No more dresses for you on Christmas.
No more secrets for you in the dark.
And all the sparrows have fallen down to the shore, so you mend their broken wing.
And even the nightingale can’t sing since you let your darkness in.
And even the dragon has shed you a tear.
And how I hate the pretty girls – they all think they’re so popular.
And how they shame an ugly girl – and so, I sacrifice myself.
And now I don’t even know who I am.
The puppies in here have all got serpent tails.
And did you say my daddy’s got a broken heart?
And now I don’t even know who I am.
The puppies in here have all got serpent tails.
And did you say he suffers from a broken heart?
No more Jesus for you at Christmas.
No more laurels for you in your hair.
And all the faeries have fallen down to the shore, so you mend their broken wing.

My Favorite Things
04:17
|
|||
Valentine roses and whispered confessions,
Hand-written poems and soft-hearted villains,
Mermaids who surface at twilight and sing,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Spanish flamenco and pink colored poodles,
Bright red kimonos and sexual doodles,
Airplanes that fly with the moon on their wing,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the phone rings, and it’s not him, when I’m feeling sad -
I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don’t feel so bad.
Strawberry cake and Victorian gardens,
Birthday confetti and Venetian fountains,
White cherry blossoms that bloom in the spring!
Withering trees and the changing of seasons,
Halloween parties, a gift for no reason,
Finally seeing a bad day come to an end.
Finding a shell that is perfectly pink –
These are a few of my favorite things.
